What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. It lets the site recognise the same browser on a later visit. We also use local storage, which works in a similar way but is not sent back to a server. Where this policy says “cookies”, it covers both.

Nothing is set until you choose

When you arrive, analytics and advertising are switched off. No analytics or advertising cookie is written to your device until you press Accept all or turn on a category under Manage preferences.

One thing worth being clear about: while you have not consented, Google’s tags still send a signal to Google that a page was viewed. That signal carries no cookie and no identifier that singles you out — it is used only for aggregate estimates. If you would rather that did not happen at all, use a browser or extension that blocks the Google Tag Manager domain.

What we use, and why

Necessary

Needed for the page to work and to remember your cookie choice. These cannot be switched off, because without them we could not honour a refusal.

Analytics

Google Analytics 4, to understand which pages are read, how people arrive, and where they stop reading. We use it to improve the site, not to build a profile of you.

Advertising

Google Ads, to measure whether our campaigns bring the right visitors and to show our advertising to people who have already been here. This is the category that enables remarketing.

Google may change the names and lifetimes of its own cookies. If you find a cookie on this site that is not listed here, tell us and we will correct the table.

Who receives the data

Analytics and advertising data is processed by Google. Google operates servers in several countries, so this data may be handled outside the United Arab Emirates. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else for their own marketing.

Changing or withdrawing your choice

You can change your mind whenever you like, and withdrawing is as easy as consenting.

The same link sits in the footer of every page. You can also delete cookies and block new ones in your browser settings — every major browser allows this, though blocking everything may affect how other sites behave.

Your rights

Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data applies to the personal data of people in the United Arab Emirates. Under it you may ask us to:

• tell you what personal data we hold about you and how it is processed
• provide that data in a portable form, or transfer it to another controller
• correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete
• delete your personal data
• restrict or stop processing
• stop processing that is carried out automatically, including profiling
